Between book blues

I seem to be at that awkward stage in both my reading and my writing where I'm not fully engrossed in something. I'm half reading Supernatural Noir (because I need to transfer it to my Nook--the iPad is killing my eyes) and The Gingerbread Girl (I think it's too weird for me), but neither of these can replace a novel, you know? There's something about a novel that really sucks me in. For whatever reason, I've been putting off reading The Abused Werewolf Rescue Group, but when I grabbed lunch today, I was seized with the urge to read it and . . . it wasn't on my Kindle yet! (Yes, I go all three ways. I have a Kindle, an iPad and a Nook. I also borrow books from my local library.)

Anyway, I think this book's time has come.

Now if I could just really dig into the new novel I'm writing. It's a good idea and I like the story and the characters, but I'm not familiar with it the way I was with the one I just finished revising. I mean, as unpleasant as that other story was, I'd been living with it for about five years, and now I'm at the query stage with it.

Have I mentioned lately that querying really sucks? It's so distracting! Also, it tests my confidence in everything I write. I even asked one of my poor writer friends (who happens to be a really great published author and has a fabulous book coming out this August!!!) to read my query and confirm it was okay. Good, or bad, she confirmed that it actually was okay and that rejections are normal. At least I know I haven't embarrassed myself in front of anyone, but I still haven't gotten to "yes" with an agent ::le sigh::.

So, Catherine Jinks, no pressure or anything, but I'm counting on you to take me away from the harsh realities of this cruel world. Werewolves don't write queries, right?

Oh . . . oh . . . what's that? I feel . . . ooooh! Arooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
