Why is it so freakin' difficult to get to 200 pages?

I don't get it. I'm less than 5,000 words away from being done with my manuscript (in terms of word count goal) and every additional word feels like pulling teeth. So frustrating. It's tempting to just declare it done; who really needs those extra words anyway, but I have the creeping feeling that the short length may be indicative of me glossing over something important.

Argh. I just want to put this thing out of its misery and move on to my next manuscript. I also have to get to work on the whole finding an agent thingy. I hate that cycle of writing queries; obsessing about the queries; receiving rejections; obsessing about the rejections---repeat.

I love coming up with story ideas and writing the first draft. Everything after feels kind of like a pain in the fanny.

Notice how I didn't use any curse words in this post? So thrilling!
