So, I think 1,600 words a day is a steep goal for someone with a "full time" day job. (I say full time in quotes because I work in higher ed and when registration is slow, we're slow, so I can make a few notes @ work--ssssh!) Still, 1,600 words is not impossible. I hammered that out in one hour a few weeks ago. Granted, that was a gray afternoon that I'd locked myself up thinking I had no reason to live if I couldn't write something right then. Thank goodness that passed!
Anyway, as I sat at my computer and let the thoughts flow, my husband started asking probing questions.
Him: "What are you doing?"
Him: "When are you coming to bed?"
Him: "If you stay up late, you're going to be all crabby tomorrow."
Me: "I haven't reached my goal yet." (This was a lie. I had reached my goal, but I had notes to transcribe.)
See what I mean though? So not helpful.
And this just in from The Rejectionist about the perils of cat+writing.
